James was born and raised in Southern Ontario, Canada. Following the completion of his BSc in 2018 and MSc in 2021, he began his doctoral studies under the supervision of Dr. Sophie Rousseaux at the University of Toronto. During his PhD, his research focused on the development of novel methods for the synthesis and functionalization of heteroatom-substituted cyclopropanes. Having never previously lived outside North America, James is excited to be in the beautiful city of Aachen, where he began a postdoctoral position in June 2026.
