Laurence grew up in Flörsheim close to Frankfurt. After an apprenticeship as a chemical lab technician at Clariant in Frankfurt, he studied chemistry at RWTH Aachen University. During his MSc studies he did a research internship in the group of Prof. Feliu Maseras at ICIQ in Spain working on computational studies of a mechanochemical reduction. After conducting his MSc thesis work on python implementations of optical spectra simulations in the group of Prof. Christoph Bannwarth (RWTH), he joined the Schoenebeck group for his PhD in August 2026.
